LS-Telestrator for GFL is a support app for producing video streams of matches of German Football League (league 1 and 2).
The software is displayed and operated on the main screen of the Mac. It shows the scoreboard, distance lines and graphics in 2 NDI® channels or on the second display (HDMI output) using chroma key technology.

The software consists of these building blocks:
1. Scoreboard for season 2023. LS-Telestrator for GFL manages the scoreboard, including scores, timeouts, down & distance, offense, quarters, game time and play time. Furthermore is manages the display of the currently defined flags (display for 7 seconds, optional adjustment of scores and timeouts). All teams of league 1 and 2 including nicknames, logos, scoreboard images are contained in the app. Except installing the fonts there is no additional work required to show the scoreboard, all assets are there.
2. Video input for leading camera. The video signal of a camera (the one you would use for distance lines) is displayed live as background on the control display. The following sources are supported:
• NDI® - sources (NDI is a registered trademark of NewTek, Inc.)
• AVCapture of Apple macOS via USB (e.g. ATEM Mini, Web Presenter) or NDI®.
Alternatively you can use several stills and a green screen as background.
3. In “down & distance” mode using mouse or trackpad the yellow and blue lines (line of scrimmage / new first down line) can be drawn. If the angles of the lines are good enough, a flag showing down & distance values plus offense team logo can automatically be displayed as grass level image (optional). Three different flag layouts are included. The lines are static and will not move with changing camera perspectives. I.e. this functionality can only be used with static video, when the camera perspective does not change!
4. Freely assignable images, e.g. team logos and others, can be drawn on the lawn. There are 6 layouts with 1-4 graphic slots available. The size and position as well as various image parameters can be adjusted in order to make the images looks like being part of the grass.
5. Remote control for scoreboard. Since handling scoreboard values plus drawing of distance lines can be too much work load for a single operator, we have created an iPad app for remote control of scoreboard iPads (LS-Telestrator Remote). It can used to control all details and parameters of the scoreboard from anywhere, as long as iPad and the Mac running “LS-Telestrator for GFL” are both connected to Internet. All you need to do is to switch on the “Telestrator server” option in “Remote” settings tab, and scan the QR code displayed there with the iPad app, and the two apps are immediately connected.
6. Video switcher connection. The scoreboard can currently be keyed in fully automatically by all Blackmagic Design ATEM switchers. ATEMs with 2 USKs are required for the distance lines (ATEM Mini Extreme and higher). The preset keys are automatically switched when distance lines, scoreboard or grass level images are to be shown on the video. The vMix overlays are also controlled by LS-Telestrator, on the Tricaster the DSK must be started manually (or macros with StreamDeck).

The software is fully functional in the basic version, except that is does not display anything on the NDI®/HDMI-output, which is of course required to do a real production. To enable this function you need to subscribe the “Full Feature Set”. This cost approx. €99 per month, the first month is a free test month. The subscription can be canceled anytime to the end of a month.
